Research has shown that the introduction of nitrogen heterocycles can improve the physicochemical properties of candidate drugs, giving them better pharmacokinetic properties and low toxicity side effects, and enhancing drug efficacy. Among the drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), pyrrolidine is the most common five membered non aromatic nitrogen heterocycle, which is highly favored in the fields of pharmaceutical science and drug design. Moreover, pyrrolidine and its derivatives are widely used as transition metal ligands and organic catalysts in asymmetric synthesis to control stereoisomers with high selectivity
